Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at City Hall Reception

The City of Kissimmee held its annual Hispanic Heritage Month reception at City Hall on September 17, 2024. The event celebrated the Hispanic community's cultural contributions and achievements through live performances, music, and traditional culinary options.
The evening featured a performance by singer and violinist Imén Nasser, followed by presentations from local groups and talent, including the Escuela de Bomba y Plena Tata Cepeda, Osceola County School for the Arts student Maria Valentina Rodriguez Puerta, and the dance group México Danza, showcasing a variety of music and dance traditions.
During the event, Mayor Olga Gonzalez shared her thoughts on the contributions of the Hispanic community: “Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is not just about recognizing our past; it’s about honoring the vibrant contributions of our community today. As the first Hispanic woman to serve as mayor, I am proud to witness how far we’ve come and excited for the future we are building together.”
The City held a formal proclamation during the City Commission meeting to honor Hispanic Heritage Month, reinforcing the city's commitment to recognizing the contributions of its diverse community.

Celebrando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana en la Recepción del City Hall
La Ciudad de Kissimmee celebró su recepción anual del Mes de la Herencia Hispana en el City Hall el 17 de septiembre de 2024. El evento destacó las contribuciones y logros culturales de la comunidad hispana a través de actuaciones en vivo, música y opciones culinarias tradicionales.
La velada contó con la actuación de la cantante y violinista Imén Nasser, seguida de presentaciones de grupos y talentos locales, como la Escuela de Bomba y Plena Tata Cepeda, la estudiante del Osceola County School for the Arts María Valentina Rodríguez Puerta y el grupo de baile México Danza, que mostraron una variedad de tradiciones musicales y de baile.
Durante el evento, la alcaldesa Olga González compartió sus reflexiones sobre las contribuciones de la comunidad hispana: "Celebrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana no es sólo reconocer nuestro pasado; es honrar las vibrantes contribuciones de nuestra comunidad hoy. Como primera mujer hispana que ocupa el cargo de alcaldesa en la Ciudad de Kissimmee, me enorgullece ser testigo de lo lejos que hemos llegado y me entusiasma el futuro que estamos construyendo juntos."
La Ciudad celebró una proclamación formal durante la reunión de la Junta de Comisionados para honrar el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, reforzando el compromiso de la Ciudad para reconocer las contribuciones y diversidad de la comunidad.
