The City of Kissimmee is expected to receive approximately $896,880 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Of that $134,532 have been allocated towards Public Services activities. The purpose of the CDBG Program is the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low/moderate income.
Even though the CDBG regulations allow the use of grant funds for a wide range of public service activities; the City will be giving priority this year to:
- job/employment training/job readiness placement;
- housing information and referrals/homeless outreach and case management;
- after school services/mentorship programs/child care;
- financial and housing counseling; and
- subsistence payments.
