Residents who wish to evacuate are encouraged to make arrangements to ride out the storm with friends or family, or consider staying in a hotel, if possible. Shelters are available to all residents who need them, but should be considered a last resort. People arriving at shelters are asked to bring items that will help make their stay comfortable such as blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, books, quiet games, and battery-powered radios. Those on prescription medication are strongly urged to bring adequate supplies with them.

Stormwater

The City of Kissimmee has sufficient capacity in the stormwater system as well as Lake Tohopekaliga and Shingle Creek to handle rain from Hurricane Milton. The city is closely monitoring the potential changes and rainfall forecast.

City staff will conduct their standard city-wide sweep to ensure that all drainage structures, canals, and waterways are free of debris. This proactive measure aims to maintain effective drainage and mitigate potential flooding.

Office Closures

City of Kissimmee government offices will be closed Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10.
