Criminal Investigative Division: This Division investigates crimes against people including (but not limited to) sex crimes, homicides, robberies, child abuse and domestic violence.
Counter Crimes Unit: This Unit is a special investigative unit focused on street level crimes. They work together with Major Crimes Unit and Patrol to target crimes involving narcotics, burglary trends, and sex trafficking.
SWAT Team: This group of elite police marksmen specialize in high-risk tasks. They are responsible for solving difficult or urgent issues, like hostage situations or barricaded subjects. Tryouts for the team are annual and only the strongest of mind and body make the team.
K-9 Unit: With outstanding abilities to identify narcotics, explosives, and evidence not visible to the human eye, canines have become an essential part of our ability to protect and serve the Kissimmee community.
Crisis Negotiations Team: Working to relieve hostile situations with those involved in criminal, domestic, or mental health incidents is a skill set few possess.
Emergency Response Team: The Emergency Response Team is a tactical unit trained to assist in any emergency incident, such as a natural disaster or incidents of civil unrest. The Team trains through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and is prepared to provide disaster relief aide, as well as help in search and rescue operations.
School Resource Officer Unit:This Unit is comprised of the School Resource Officers who are focused on providing safety and security to school campuses and students.
Marine Unit: Surrounded by standing bodies of water, the Marine Unit is an essential part of the Kissimmee Police Department’s ability to search for and save those in dire situations.
Task Force Opportunities: Elite investigators part of the Kissimmee Police Department are selected to join various Task Forces which target criminal organizations as well as mid-to-major crimes on a local, state and national levels.
Community Engagement Unit: This Unit proactively works with community partners, neighborhood watch groups, and the business watch to provide resources and education on crime prevention.
Training Unit: This Unit is focused on providing the most comprehensive, up-to-date training to law enforcement and other members of the Kissimmee Police Department.
Traffic Enforcement Unit: This Unit is focused on traffic issues in our community and investigates traffic homicides.
Communications Section: The Kissimmee Police Department 9-1-1 Communications Center answers emergency and non-emergency calls for service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and dispatches the appropriate help. The professional staff is dedicated to providing quality service to our citizens and the first responders that we serve.
The Center provides dispatching and centralized communications for Police, Fire, and EMS. The 9-1-1 Center employs a highly trained staff using the latest in technology to maintain our high commitment to public safety.
